Accessibility and Availability

Neighborhood

Nestled in the Sierra National Forest at an elevation of 4,236 feet, Poppy and Pine Cabin is located in the historic mountain community of Sugar Pine. Built by the Madera Sugar Pine Company, an extensive logging operation which was active between 1890-1931, this quiet and peaceful neighborhood with a rich history is now primarily a vacation community. Many of the original buildings built for the logging camp still remain, including the small building directly across from Poppy and Pine Cabin. The wildlife is plentiful in Sugar Pine! This includes deer, mountain lions and bears. We ask that you do not leave any food outside, unattended, or in your vehicle. At the entrance to the Sugar Pine Community, you’ll find the Lewis Creek Trail, North Trailhead. This 3.7 mile trail leads to Red Rock Falls, and Corlieu Falls.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the entire house except for the housekeeping closet upstairs, supply cabinets in the laundry room, and the basement. There are three exterior doors – the front door and side/laundry room doors are accessed via a smart lock with combination. The Primary Bedroom has a third door which leads to the patio. You are welcome to use this door once inside the property, but it should be kept locked when not in use. Down the hill from Poppy and Pine Cabin is the Mill Creek Pond. This pond is private property and not accessible to guests of Poppy and Pine Cabin. When walking in the neighborhood near the pond, please stay on the roads.

My group attended the Environmental Law Conference at Tenaya, and Liz's listing was perfect at (1) accommodating the seven travelers of my group and (2) being 11-15 mins away (by car) from Tenaya Lodge where the conference was being hosted at. We appreciated that every room that a person could sleep in was equipped with a wall-mounted conditioner unit which, for this time of the year, was able to put out heat to warm the rooms. The two full bathrooms and one half-bathroom (i.e. sink and toilet, but no shower) were fine for seven people. We appreciated the furnished popcorn seeds, spacious living room, and cabinet full of board games. For others, please note L2 EV charging is provided from 9pm to 4pm. The only con I can think of is not really related to the home itself, but that the turnoff from the highway into the community area (where the home is) can be a little dangerous since there is a nearby blind turn. Just something to be aware of for those who are not confident drivers.

Liz and Rudy were wonderful hosts, proactive in communicating and very experienced. The place was even more beautiful than the photos! Can't wait until the next time I go to Yosemite.

Liz’ cabin is beautiful, in a gorgeous location . You truly feel you are in the woods, away from the hustle and bustle. The house is well equipped with everything you need for a family. Including a ton of games, a fully functional kitchen with spices. The rooms and bathrooms are squeaky clean. We can easily stay here all summer. Definitely recommend it!

Liz, thanks for the awesome stay at Yosemite. The cabin was stocked with much more than expected. We received prompt responses and amazing communication for any questions we had & even things we didn’t think of. We had a family emergency and Liz helped us deal with it in a graceful way. Better than what’s listed. 10/10 recommend. Close to the south entrance.
